Ditch The Elevator February 12th, 2008

A very effective way to get some cardio in throughout your hectic day is to just take the stairs. Studies show that you can burn about 300 calories by spending 30 minutes on stairs. 30 minutes on the stairs is a long time, but just do it weekly. If you take the stairs every time you have the option, you’ll end up burning at least an extra 300 calories a week!

Not only is this a low impact exercise (meaning not a lot of stress on your knees), but it also is a great exercise for your quads and your booty. So you’ll be killing two birds with one stone by burning fat and toning your legs at the same time.  I have found this to be quite effective for seniors who wish to stay in shape, but everyone should try it. I know I’ve ditched the elevators and escalators, and I can already notice a difference.
